this holds true from the perspective of the shadow too - if we stop to consider her, even just for a brief moment, as the actant and not the subject of the description. the shadow sees the body come and go, lead and follow, without really knowing where/how/when/why. but being just a simple "consequence" of the body, subject to the will of light and the randomness of movement, she's never really given a conscience (unless it's peter pan's shadow we're talking about here) and is even more clueless.
